Students detained for cult activities: The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight secondary school students for allegedly engaging in cult-related activities within their school premises in Ifo.
Confirming the arrest, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated that the incident was reported by school authorities, who raised concerns over an emerging student gang involved in cultism.
“On March 21, 2025, at approximately 12:05 p.m., the Vice Principal of Ifo High School, Mr. Alako Oluwole, along with a teacher, Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, reported that a group of students had been participating in cult-related activities, causing disturbances and extorting valuables from fellow students,” Odutola said.
The arrested students were identified as Omolaso Waris (16), Bennett Bolawatife (15), Aluko Taiwo (15), Akinola Ifeoluwa (16), Azeez Hassan (16), Kilani Babatunde (also known as “Soldier”) (16), Kehinde Aluko (15), and Fasedemi Samuel (16).

Preliminary investigations revealed that they are members of the Future Guys (F.T.G.) cult group, allegedly initiated by two senior students, Ebenezer Ope (the group’s President) and Ebenezer Tobi, both in SSS 1.
“The police have launched a thorough investigation to assess the extent of cult activities in the school and prevent further incidents. Once the preliminary investigation is concluded, the students will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,” Odutola added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has directed that the students appear before him on the next working day for further interviews, after which referrals for counseling and mentoring will be arranged.
