Renowned doctor arrested Hawaii: A prominent doctor has been accused of attempting to murder his nuclear engineer wife by pushing her off a trail in Hawaii and striking her head with a rock, according to police.

Gerhardt Konig, 46, was arrested on Monday, March 24, after allegedly attacking his 36-year-old wife, Arielle Konig, at the Pali Lookout in Oahu, leaving her in critical condition. Arielle reportedly told authorities that Konig assaulted her with closed fists and a rock before attempting to shove her off the hiking trail.

In a disturbing indication that the alleged attack was premeditated, Konig allegedly produced two syringes containing an unknown substance and jabbed Arielle with them.

According to the Star Advertiser, the assault occurred after Arielle refused to take a picture with him.

She sustained serious head and facial injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment, local media reported.

Following his arrest, he was suspended from his position as an independent contractor serving multiple facilities under Maui Health.
