Officers from the Niger State Police Command have successfully rescued a kidnapping victim who was found chained by the neck and hands using padlocks.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesperson, shared this information in a statement released on Friday, February 21, 2025. He revealed that the victim, Nasiru Idris, had been abducted from Kebbi State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) stated that the kidnappers fled the scene upon noticing the approaching police patrol teams.
“On February 16, 2025, around 4 pm, a police tactical squad led by the DPO of ‘A’ Division in Kontagora conducted a routine confidence-building patrol along the Bangi-Kontagora road. During the operation, a suspected victim was discovered in the Mariga forest, chained by the neck and hands with padlocks. The victim was identified as Nasiru Idris,” the statement explained.
“During interrogation, Idris recounted that he was kidnapped from Kebbi State, specifically from Farin-Ruwa via Bena in Wasagu LGA.
“He stated that his abductors abandoned him and fled the area upon seeing the police patrol teams.
“The victim was taken to a hospital for medical care, and efforts are currently underway to locate his family members.”
