The police have arrested a man in Edo for allegedly k!lling his wife.

The Edo State Police Command has arrested Kelvin Izekor for the alleged m*rder of his 38-year-old wife, Success Izekor. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at their residence in Upper Mission Extension, Benin City.

A resident, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that the couple had recently married. “I can’t believe what I saw. Imagine being k!lled by your own husband. They were newlyweds, and nobody would have expected the woman to suffer such a fate,” the resident said.

A graphic video circulating on social media shows police officers and residents removing the deceased, who had deep machete wounds on her head, from the apartment and placing her in a police Hilux van.

The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He explained that the husband was nearly lynched by an angry mob before police intervened, calmed the crowd, and took him into custody.

The statement read: “On 22/02/2025, at about 22:00hrs, information was received that one Kelvin Izekor of No. 50 Upper Mission Extension, Benin City, had k!lled his wife, Success Izekor, aged 38, and was about to be lynched by an irate mob.”
