A learner driver has tragically struck and k!lled a final-year nursing student in Delta.

A final-year nursing student at Delta State College of Nursing, Agbor, Awele Agatha Eluemunor, was tragically k!lled in an accident involving a learner driver in Ika South Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, when the suspect, a 100-level student at the University of Delta (Unidel), was reportedly being taught how to drive by her boyfriend on a major road.

Reports indicate that the Unidel student lost control of the vehicle, swerved off the road, and hit several pedestrians.

Awele, 23, who was scheduled to graduate in November 2025, d!ed instantly at the scene.

Two other victims sustained severe injuries and are currently in critical condition, receiving treatment at a hospital.

It was also revealed that the boyfriend, who owned the car, fled the scene after the accident, leaving the young driver behind.

Following her arrest on Thursday, the suspect allegedly requested permission from the police to leave and write her exams, sparking protests by nursing students.

The deceased was laid to rest in her hometown, Ogwashi-Uku, on Friday, February 21.
