Implications of Sanusi’s Court Ruling: The Kano State Government has responded to widespread misunderstandings regarding the recent Court of Appeal ruling on the ongoing emirship dispute, urging the public to seek accurate legal information.

 

In a statement, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesman, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, highlighted the need to correct misleading reports circulating in the media.

 

During a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Kano, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, explained that the Court of Appeal’s ruling on January 10, 2025, affirmed the repeal of the Kano Emirate Council Law, 2019, and overturned the Federal High Court’s previous decision.

Dederi also pointed out that Alhaji Aminu Dan’agundi, dissatisfied with the judgment, has since taken the matter to the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He emphasized
