Driver arrested for kidnapping: The Onipanu Divisional Headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command has arrested a ride-share driver, Olayemi Yusuf (30), for allegedly abducting a female passenger. The suspect, who was also assaulted by an enraged mob, is currently in police custody as investigations are underway.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated:
“On March 24, 2025, at approximately 1500 hours, officers received a report about a suspicious vehicle along Ilogbo Road, Ojuore, Ogun State. A prompt police response led to the rescue of the victim, Coutroupis Peace (22), of No. 17 Fisher Street, Cement Bus Stop, Lagos.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had booked a ride through an online car service from Lekki, Lagos, to Off Freedom Way, Lekki. However, during the journey, the driver claimed his navigation system malfunctioned, causing him to deviate from the intended route. He then overpowered the victim and restrained her hands using two plastic tyre clips.

Upon arriving at Omowo Filling Station along Ilogbo Road, Ota, the victim raised an alarm, attracting the attention of passersby, who intervened and attacked the suspect before the police arrived.”
Odutola added that both the victim and the suspect were taken to the police station, where the suspect received medical attention for injuries sustained during the mob attack.
She further noted that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has urged the public not to take the law into their own hands and instead report suspicious activities to the authorities for proper investigation and legal action.
