Five suspected kidnappers captured: Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for a successful operation that led to the capture of five notorious kidnappers hiding in forests across the state.
The arrests took place on Wednesday, March 12, after DSS operatives, acting on credible intelligence, tracked the suspects to two separate hideouts in Enugu State. The individuals taken into custody are believed to be part of a notorious gang responsible for terrorizing Udi Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
The suspects reportedly confessed to extorting large ransoms from their victims’ families. During the raid, security forces also recovered significant sums of money, suspected to be ransom payments, along with dangerous weapons and other incriminating materials from their hideouts.
Five suspected kidnappers captured: In a statement, Governor Mbah expressed his appreciation for the DSS’s efforts and the cooperation between various security agencies, including the military, police, and Enugu State Forest Guards. He assured the public that security operations would continue to track down the remaining gang members and dismantle their networks in the forests.
Furthermore, on Friday, March 14, three additional key members of a separate kidnapping syndicate were apprehended in Enugu, further bolstering the state’s fight against criminal activities.
