A pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) has been taken into police custody for allegedly k!ll!ng a newly graduated Lagos State University (LASU) student.
The victim, 28-year-old Ogubode Adedamola (pictured top left), was set to attend LASU’s convocation ceremony on April 3, 2025, but his life was tragically cut short. According to his girlfriend, she last spoke with him on the day he disappeared. Adedamola had informed her that he was outside CCC Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2, with Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh (pictured above) and promised to call back—but never did.
Following his disappearance, the police visited the church based on the girlfriend’s statement. However, the pastor denied seeing Adedamola that day or knowing his whereabouts.
Further investigation revealed suspicious financial activity. Adedamola’s bank records showed a transfer of N1.5 million on the day he went missing, with part of the funds deposited into the accounts of the pastor and his daughter. Initially, the cleric denied receiving the money but later claimed it was a Thanksgiving offering when confronted with evidence.
Subsequent inquiries led authorities to a grim discovery—the young graduate’s body had been buried near the church premises. A gun and an axe were reportedly found in the pastor’s possession.
Adedamola, a 2024 graduate of Political Science Education and CEO of Horlar Edu Consultancy, a business operating on the LASU campus, was last seen on January 16, 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
