Air France Flight Turns Back Midway After Passenger Loses Phone

An Air France plane was forced to return to Paris just two hours into its journey after a passenger lost their phone on board.

The flight, which departed on Friday from Paris to Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, had traveled about a quarter of the way before turning back, carrying 375 passengers and 12 crew members.

According to AirPlusNews, the decision was made as a safety precaution. Flight data from FlightRadar24 showed that the aircraft looped once off the west coast of France before returning to Paris Orly Airport, where it had originally departed.

After landing at 3:25 p.m., the plane took off again just 20 minutes later and arrived in Guadeloupe at 7:20 p.m. local time.

This incident follows a similar one a month earlier when the same plane had to return to Paris after a passenger’s phone slipped into an air vent, raising concerns over a potential fire risk from its lithium battery.
