U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, sparked controversy after telling a British Sky News reporter, “Why don’t you go back to your country?” during a heated exchange.
The confrontation occurred when the reporter attempted to question Greene about a leaked Signal group chat discussing military plans to strike Houthi targets in Yemen. Greene, visibly frustrated, dismissed the journalist’s inquiry, stating, “We don’t give a crap about your opinion and your reporting. Why don’t you go back to your country?”
Pointing at the reporter, who had identified herself as being from the United Kingdom, Greene went on to challenge the journalist’s interest in U.S. national security, saying, “You should care about your own borders. Let me tell you something, do you care about people from your country?”
She then made a controversial remark, asking, “What about all the women that are raped by migrants? Do you care?”
This is not the first time Greene has made such comments. In 2022, she directed a similar remark at British journalist Siobhan Kennedy from Channel 4. However, this latest confrontation gained widespread attention, as it was captured by C-SPAN cameras.
Greene later refused to address the reporter’s question about the leaked Signal chat, instead shifting the conversation to border security and criticizing the Biden administration.
“You want to know about complete disregard for operational security? You should talk about the Biden administration—how they ripped our borders open to terrorists, cartels, child sex trafficking, human trafficking, and drug trafficking for four years,” she stated.
Her remarks quickly went viral, with supporters praising her response while critics condemned it as unprofessional and xenophobic.
