Power Minister Pledges Steady Electricity Supply During Ramadan

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured the public of a stable power supply throughout the Ramadan period, recognizing the heightened electricity demand during this sacred time.

“As the Minister of Power, I fully understand the difficulties Nigerians face, especially concerning electricity supply. The observance of Ramadan brings increased energy needs, particularly for early morning (Suhoor) and evening (Iftar) meals, as well as nighttime prayers (Taraweeh),” he stated.

He reassured the Muslim community that the Federal Ministry of Power is actively working to ensure a reliable power supply not only for Ramadan but beyond.

“We remain dedicated to enhancing the country’s power infrastructure, resolving grid instability, and increasing electricity access nationwide. Our objective is to enable every household to observe Ramadan with ease and comfort,” he emphasized.

Adelabu also encouraged the responsible use of electricity.

“Simple habits like switching off unused lights, opting for energy-efficient appliances, and unplugging devices when idle can significantly help in managing energy consumption and reducing strain on the national grid,” he advised.

Reflecting on the spiritual essence of Ramadan, he described it as a period of renewal and generosity.

“Fasting is more than abstaining from food; it is a time for self-reflection, strengthening our connection with Allah (SWT), seeking forgiveness, and striving for personal growth.”

He further urged Nigerians to embrace unity and offer prayers for the nation.

“In the spirit of Ramadan, I appeal for togetherness and mutual respect among all Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic backgrounds. Let us use this month to promote peace, tolerance, and goodwill in our communities,” he concluded.
